Long Island City, Queens, NYC

Here's a peek at some things in Long Island City (or LIC, as we like to abbreviate it), Queens. It's just across the East River, great views of Manhattan. This past weekend was the NYC Marathon and the half way point of the race (13.1 miles, 26.2 in total) is the Pulaski Bridge that connects Queens to Brooklyn (see below). Since the date was close to Halloween, many of the runners ran in costume. The camaraderie, diversity and positivity of the crowd (both runners and spectators) made me proud to be a New Yorker again!

P.S. 1 is part of the MOMA, it used to be a public school, and now is converted into gallery spaces and holds many arts events there.

The 7 Court Square stop, construction will bring a more attractive entryway.

The Shannon Pot, Irish Bar under the 7 train.

5 Pointz is a building in LIC designated for artist spaces and has legalized graffiti for the entire building surface - some amazing artwork here!

Autumn in Central Park

One of the main reasons I moved back to the east coast was because I missed the seasons. What a perfect place to be during Autumn - New York City - and specifically, Central Park! There were so many people out enjoying the park and admiring the changing leaves, it made me very excited to be a New Yorker again.
